He holds a doctorate in music from the University of Southampton, England. He held his first concert at the age of 14 and also has experience composing.


From Babylon to Tehran


After being born in a suburb of Babol, he and his family immigrated to Tehran. He has a brother named "Farhad" and two sisters named "Arzoo" and "Azar".


From 3 to 11 years old


He started playing the violin in 1939 when he was only three years old. Then, at the age of seven, he began learning the piano, guitar, oud, tar, and santur.


Mortazavi showed extraordinary talent until, at the age of 11, he won first place in the national student music competition in Iran.


Professors and concerts at the age of 14


Until middle school, he studied under the supervision of five of the most prestigious violin masters, including Ali Tajvidi, Parviz Yahaghi, Habibollah Badiei, Jahangir Kamian, and Masoud Namazian.


Then, in 1977, at the age of 14, he formed a 32-piece orchestra and performed his compositions at the famous Ramsar summer camp in Iran.


Immigration to England


In 1976, when he was 18 years old, Bijan Mortazavi went to England to continue his studies after receiving his diploma and received a bachelor's degree in drafting engineering.


Entering America


He moved from England to the United States in 1979 and received his master's degree in music from Texas State University. He has lived in California since 1982.


First album


In 1989, he released his first album, Bijan Mortazavi 1, and a year later he began his concert tours worldwide in different countries.


His distinguishing characteristic from other musicians is his ability to play all the instruments used in his works.
